I’m still working with the text from Don Quixote:
“En los nidos de antaño no hay pajaros hogaño.”
“Don’t look for this year’s birds in last year’s nest.”
In this version, I freely wrote the text multiple times
to create an almost abstract texture.
Behind the quote in Spanish is another quote related to impermanence:
“Like a flash of lighting in the dark of night,
rushing by like a torrent down a steep mountainside”,
describing the ephemeral, brief nature of our lifetimes.
The background was written with a flat brush, while the foreground
was written with a Speedball monoline nib. I used sumi ink on watercolor paper.
