Morning practice with a few carefully chosen words.
Sometimes, it can be helpful to really focus on specific letters.
Since I don’t really like writing the same letter over and over,
it’s nice to find some words that are inspiring to write while also offering the opportunity to practice specific letters.
In this particular style of italic (narrow, asymmetric) I’ve been practicing,
certain letters are a little troublesome – w, c, o and k, for example,
due to the particular pen manipulations required to get the line widths to look natural
with the other letters of the alphabet.
I decided to write these words from my morning journal
– clear, awake, confident, coherent and aligned –
all of which gave me a humbling opportunity to write letters that are still very much works-in-progress.
